The python27 variant was added 2 years ago, and presumably worked at that time:

but it was commented out (removed, effectively) 7 months ago when updating the 
port from 2.4.x to 2.6.1 because it didn't work anymore:

It was accidentally re-enabled (though broken) 5 months ago when updating to 
2.6.2:
