Does anyone else find it bizarre that, in 2015, we've got such an active thread about saving a few gigs of space?

If one has a too-small SSD, it seems more-than-a-little strange to complain that building/installing a bunch of software packages consumes it. Get a bigger drive. Or smaller expectations.

Having archives where one can activate/deactivate in moments is an awesome feature. Upgrade go bad? Switch back in moments. Need multiple versions of a package with conflicting variants, switch in seconds. Etc.

It would be folly to remove such a fantastic feature to cater to a few space-constrained users.
