I didn't say non-upgradable. OWC makes upgrades for the internal SSD of many Apple laptops, for example: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC Yes, I was aware of the compromises when I purchased my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 2.5 years ago. Yes, I paid extra for a larger SSD than the standard one.
