There is an open ticket to update it to version 5 [1]. It hasn’t been updated 
because there is no maintainer to give it the go ahead. Given the open question 
of whether or not to keep version 4 around and the mention of segfaults in 
version 5, it is not really clear what to do. Having someone who uses and knows 
the software to step up and make decisions about the port and communicate with 
upstream as needed will make things happen much faster. They also need to be 
able to submit tested Portfile patches. It’s not really that hard [2]. I don’t 
know Tcl (the language used in portfiles and Macports) and I update ports all 
the time, albeit less frequently these days due to lack of available time.
