No, I always do an "uninstall" so port can clean up after itself. Just before this happened I did a "selfupdate" without incident.

Did you perhaps at some point remove a bunch of things just with rm instead
of port uninstall? My guess is rev-upgrade discovered a bunch of
missing/broken things and set about fixing them, because the record says
they should be installed.
