The issues with the octave packages are minor, as most are compatible with the 
current release and what is on hg, and the others have been dropped upstream. I 
keep the octave packages up to date.

However, I’m not the maintainer of the octave or octave-devel packages (Marcus 
Calhoun-Lopez). I’ve, at times, kept a more up to date local version of 
octave-devel, but for the better part of a year, our download scheme has 
yielded broken archives for octave-devel (pulled from hg). I haven’t had time 
to investigate what is going on.
