It is on the macOS 10.13.1        Its a 10.13.1( 17B1003) host - the Parallels 
VM is a Linux Mint system and is running Parallels 13.2 and Linux Mint 18.3. 
Evidently Parallels is doing something with dscl ‘under the covers’ - probably 
to set network routes or set the host name. I have noticed that Parallels puts 
the VM host name into /etc/hosts on the Mac system. I submitted bug reports to 
both Apple and Parallels.
