You can check the git repo, or use ports.macports.org to see how the build is 
going, or check the tickets to see if yours has been fixed already.

Feel free to open up some tickets if you find some we haven't come across yet. 
Watch for dupes, and for ports that have been already fixed in the git history, 
to keep the volume down.

It is possible to have your system hold back on the older openssl, but IMHO 
that would be a mess for you in the end...

If you have a port you love, and you can find a patch from Free BSD or 
Archlinux or similar that fixes the build against openssl 1.1.x , feel free to 
post up a link to the patch and we'll get on it that much faster!
