For what it’s worth...

As mentioned, I have also been using the kmymoney5 version built with Jenkins 
( https://binary-factory.kde.org/view/MacOS/job/KMyMoney_Nightly_macos/ ). KMM4 
and KMM5 appear to have file compatibility- I have gone back and forth many 
times without a glitch. However, I am not using the electronic banking features.

Also, the last “successful” Jenkins build is over 2 months old. I don’t know 
why recent builds are failing.
