Eh, I gave the same weight to the two alternatives mentioned in the error 
message: 

Error: Failed to activate libgcc-devel: Image error: 
/opt/local/include/gcc/c++/algorithm is being used by the active libgcc11 port. 
 Please deactivate this port first, or use 'port -f activate libgcc-devel' to 
force the activation.

and chose the bad one… :-(

At this point I prefer to uninstall everything and be more careful in the new 
adventure. Also, I will install gcc-devel instead of gcc11.
