The entries in the PortIndex don't have a timestamp upon which such a feature could be based. Adding a timestamp to each entry would increase the size of the PortIndex. It could be done but I want to make sure we understand the consequence. What does "newest" mean? Is it anytime a Portfile is updated for any inconsequential change even those that would not affect the user? If not, then what criteria is used to determine which changes affect a port's newness? > as the MacPorts web interface to this feature frequently times > out for me.
