That definitely looks like a bug. Sockets in MacRuby are quite
experimental :) Could you file a ticket on Trac about this? We should
also try to reduce the problem.

That code is the same as in 1.8.7 (though there are other
differences in the file).
I searched around and found references to the same error message
coming from using drb on 10.5.3 stock ruby, but notice that my stock
Ruby works.
I'll do a little more digging. Does anyone have any ideas? Here's
