If you want the version / patchlevel info for the current Ruby process you want to run this: puts RUBY_DESCRIPTION instead of "system('ruby -v')". Also, using your 1.8.7 gems in MacRuby probably won't work very well since some probably aren't compatible with 1.9.2.
