Cardservice is great - used them a while ago, but for over 7 years I've 
been using Authorize.net with great results also. I've actually e.mailed 
direct to 2 of the authorize.net developers when I needed documentation 
clarification [due to a bad typo in the docs that they fixed]. I've been 
impressed by their responsiveness and willingness to work with even a 
small vendor [disclaimer: the sites i use them with do not sell software, 
only physical goods].
