While all testing, reviews and opinion can be beneficial, one should not confuse usability opinions with real usability testing. Having been through real usability tests with an independent usability lab and measured the results, I can attest that well formed opinions from designers, reviewers and users are not always right. Not disagreeing with the other recommendations here, just clarifying the difference between usability opinions and real usability testing. An opinion is better than no opinion, but usability testing beats both even though it may not be affordable for an indie developer.
