It's an issue with unlocked iPhones as well. The 3G chips that Apple has used 
to date do not support the frequencies that T-Mobile uses for 3G in the U.S. On 
the other hand, I've heard anecdotal reports that in some areas where the AT&T 
network is overburdened, EDGE on T-Mobile is as fast as 3G on AT&T.
