I don't really much to add beyond what I wrote in that article. Based on the experiences of myself and others I have read/talked to is unlikely that you will increase you sales more than a few percentage points and there are some downsides. However if Avangate is doing the heavy lifting, it might be worth a try. Avangate have also recently integrate cross-sales into their shopping cart.
