Been there. My suggestion is both to do nothing and to change to AquaticPrime.

Next major release, swap over to AP. Since folks are already upgrading and 
whatnot, it doesn’t really matter that the new license is a different kind than 
the previous one. Experience for the honest users is no worse than the normal 
upgrade process, and now you’re cleanly on the more secure system.

Until then, I’d just leave things be. As you say, there are better uses of time 
than retrofitting the system and trying to migrate everybody. Block any serials 
posted, and just suck up whatever lost sales you end up with from keygens and 
whatnot. Just another good incentive to get the next version out. =)
