I can recommend Clark Crawford at the Harten Center for
Underprivileged Sounds (http://hartencenter.com).

Clark did some great sounds for my game Tri and for the
FriendScopes app I created for Astrology.com, both on the
iPhone. (He's also done sounds for a couple more apps,
but they haven't been released yet.) I'll point out that
his site provides a list of far-more-impressive clients
than me. :)

Clark has been very easy to work with. For FriendScopes
--a kind of steampunky compatibility gizmo-- all I had
to do was provide screen movies of actions that needed
sound effects (gears turning, drawers opening, locks
unlocking, buttons clicking), and provide a little
direction ("this sound should be noticeable, but not
*loud*"), and then he'd go from there.

My Tri game has a lot of threes in it (the scores are
even displayed in "trinary" notation :), so I gave Clark
the directive "Think Three", without really knowing what
I expected that to mean, audio-wise. He came back with
sound effects that had tri-tone chords, and three-pulse
echoes, each with three pitch variations ... and layered
at decibel levels that were multiples of three ("just
because"). Very cool.

Reasonable rates, great results. I'm at the point now
that it's difficult to think of releasing any app
without running it by Clark for some audio enhancement.

Regards,

Don
