Hi all, I just noticed that the "Downloads" section on Apple's website is gone. I don't know when that happened, maybe it was replaced by the "iPad" section or maybe I am just slow to react... In any case, the page <http://www.apple.com/downloads/> still exists and shows up on a Google search for "Apple", but I haven't found any link to it anymore on Apple's website.
I also noticed in my Google Analytics that Apple shows no longer up as a referrer to my website, while it used to rank above both macupdate and versiontracker. I am a bit worried that this is the beginning of a trend to reduce Apple's commitment to the Mac platform in favour of the iPhone / iPad / iPod platform. If this is true and we (i.e. the Mac developers in general) are forced to rewrite our products almost from scratch for the iPhone OS just a few years after being forced to rewrite them almost from scratch for Mac OS X, then I start to seriously worry about Apple's ability to retain large software developers.... Any thoughts? Martin HairerSoft http://www.hairersoft.com/
