I had a go at the 99 cents tier, when I saw so many competitors selling at that price, and found that it did not increase my sales enough to offset the reduced earnings per sale. I am now up to $2.99, which I still feel is too low. I'll experiment with slightly higher tiers again, now that at 2.0 my software has reached the level of functionality I want it to have. It is an interesting situation on the App Store. So much software, but not necessarily that much quality. In my particular field, a significant number of metronomes is offered, quite a few of them free, and most of them not very good. By the looks of it, only a very few competitors offer a package that could vie with mine in terms of quality and, as far as I can see, none that can vie in terms of control offered to the user. I feel I should sell my software for well above $5, but that that is not a viable option due to the price competition. On the other hand, selling at $99 or $1.99 just because a few others do doesn't make sense either.
