Having read what Ulli wrote, i can only agree and do not need to write all that stuff again.
Your website, and therefore the translation of it, is the window to your product - and reflects our attitude towards it. Bad translations may leave the impression that your software has been developed in a similar manner. Buggy, with errors, difficult to understand... and stuff. As this is a dev group and not a merketplace, i won´t comment on the described company, but i can say that i share the general opinion of this thread. I agree that it would probably be a good idea to have your site (or parts of it) translated. But when looking for a translator, you should consider the quality, the translator´s area of expertise and price. But: Translations, especially quality translation, is a service which should be provided by professional linguists. Machine translation or translations by hobbyists do in most cases not pay off.
