I would *strongly* recommend you fix this before 1.0, or you will have
many angry customers indeed. A couple of quick comments about your
beta:

1. The "Preferences" item is greyed out. If there are no preferences
whatsoever, it just shouldn't be there.

2. I cannot start drawing into the empty window that appears when
I start the program. Either show a file selection dialog instead, or
  open a blank document.

3. Why is there no File -> New menu item?

4. The File -> Close menu item always seems to be greyed out and
the front window has no "close" widget either.

5. Selecting "New from clipboard" when I already have something in
the main window seems to just discard what I have and create a new
document without giving me the opportunity to save my work.

6. The "Show / hide tools" item in the "Windows" menu always has a
checkmark, whether the tools are shown or not.

7. When I change the size of the tools window, it jumps to a minimal
width that is much larger than the original default width.

8. The "floppy disk" icon in the tools window seems redundant. If I
create a new style, I would always expect it to be remembered
  between launches.

9. If you try to quit and have unsaved changes, the dialog should
read "Do you want to save the changes you made in the document
"Name"?" with a subcaption reading "Your changes will be lost if
you don't save them" and the default buttons should be "Save..."
"Cancel" and "Don't Save". Slightly different wording is OK, but
different buttons will confuse the user.

One of the nice things about MacOS X is that behaviour is very
consistent across applications. Please follow Apple's user interface
guidelines, it will make your application more pleasant to use and
it will help you attract / retain customers. Hope this helps. Regards,

Martin
