Not sure if this has been discussed before on the list, but for the last month or so I've been hand writing thank-you cards to all of my customers as orders come in. It makes me feel good, but I'm mainly interested in seeing if it has any impact on sales, word of mouth, etc. Nearly half of my orders are from outside the states. I haven't coughed up the overseas postage yet, but I've been mailing the domestic cards within a day, which means they arrive the same week the customer ordered.
It only takes about 15 - 20 minutes every morning to catch up on the previous days orders and get them in the mail. So far I've had a bunch of very positive email replies, a good number of tweets recommending my products and mentioning the card, and even one snail-mail reply! Sales are slightly up for what is traditionally a slow Summer sales month, but I doubt that means much. It's probably too early for any measurable impact to have happened. Anyone do anything similar? Tyler
