to get rid of the warnings and the delay modify applesmc_device_init 
like this (the if statement):

...
static int applesmc_device_init(void)
{
        int total, ret = -ENXIO;
        u8 buffer[2];

        if (!applesmc_accelerometer) return 0;

        down(&applesmc_sem);
...
