When I try to install GRUB I always get the following error: The file /boot/grub/stage1 not read correctly.
What am I doing wrong? Lilo works OK. I'm using Debian testing, GRUB version 0.97-13. Here is a sample session showing that the file does exist and is on a partition which I believe GRUB can use. ~# grub-install /dev/sda The file /boot/grub/stage1 not read correctly. ~# grub-install /dev/sda4 The file /boot/grub/stage1 not read correctly. ~# l /boot/grub/stage1 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 512 2006-08-15 11:41 /boot/grub/stage1 ~# df /boot/grub/.
