I managed to compile and run 2.6.18.6 with the mactel patches from SVN
and this had several positive and negative effects.

Positive:

- 2/3 finger tapping to get 2/3 buttons works well.
- Touchpad is more responsive but still jerky.
- The sound driver is at least loaded though I don't know if sound works yet.

Negative:

- Ndiswrapper no longer works.
- Fan spinup and makes a lot of noise when CPU active

When the CPU is active the fans spin-up a lot and make a whiny noise.
This didn't happen with the standard Ubuntu kernel and it never
happens under OS X. I'm guessing this is to keep the system cool but
is there some way to reduce this effect? Is there some nice utility
to configure the applesmc driver?

I still find the touchpad very jumpy and I see that Jason Parekh has a
patch that supposed to improve this at:

http://www.jasonparekh.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/10/appletouch-2finger_det-threshold_opt.patch

But this is only for 2.6.17. Does anyone know if this has been
integrated into 2.6.18?

Has anyone managed to get the new wireless cards on the MBP C2D to
work with 2.6.18.6 with the mactel patches and Ndiswrapper? Gimli
suggested that this was broken in 2.6.19 but it also doesn't seem to
work in 2.6.18. It seems like 2.6.18 no longer supports ndiswrapper
or at least i can't find a config option for it in the kernel. Am I
doing something stupid or is ndiswrapper gone from 2.6.18?

thanks,
Sheer
