I would use "watch -n 0.1 cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state" to see if a
 change in any parameters helps... (the "present rate" value, and unplug
the power first)

I tried this parameter, with an idle system, and I don't see any visible
difference in power consumption (which doesn't mean it doesn't help in
some cases).
