hi Gabriel. i just upgraded to 2.6.22.1 and gave your suggestions a
try. well, guess what? it worked! my mic now works beautifully. thanks
for posting your results.

the only difference that i can see between our setups is that in the
amixer "Capture" view, i don't have a "Digital" device.
