With MacOS X, I checked the "wake the computer for administrator
access"-like option in the energy preferences, but it was not successful: I
am only able to suspend to RAM and the WOL packet is inneffective. Even when
I installed the SafeSleep tool, I was unable to do anything else but suspend
to RAM. When shutting down the macmini, the WOL packet is not successful.
With linux, I unsucessfully did what I described above.
This is strange because the sky2 driver are supposed to handle WOL
correctly: the author of the driver was not able tell me what's going wrong
I installed the suspend2 patch for 2.6.22 kernel and I will do some test
with suspend to RAM and suspend to disk, but I'm not convince of this since
the suspend to disk is simply a dump of the RAM in the swap partition, then
a check of the presence of this dump when the computer reboot: it does not
involve dealing with the network card at all.
Suspend to RAM may work, but I'd rather like to use the suspend to disk
