You can do, and I have seen it done. The method I suggested allows the
packages for each to be modified by series. Say something had to be
altered in the packaging for Januty but not for Intrepid with the scheme
I suggested it could be done with ease and still keep the same upstream
version.
If you take a look at my PPA you can see
https://launchpad.net/~adamhorden/+archive/ppa what I have done so far.
These packages work when I tested them.
So you are suggesting that we have just one package and modify the
control files so it can be built for Intrepid and Januty?

can you not put multiple versions in one of the debian control files

I had seen that somewhere. It doesn't make sense to have to keep
separate versions for each release.

Hi,
Henrik I noticed the packages you built for Januty in the PPA.
Why the version bump on the Januty package to the Intrepid package for
applesmc-dkms? I did a diff and I cannot see anything changed other
than
the packaging. Is this correct?
Yes - I was simply being lazy, since the old version could not be
uploaded to jaunty without some kind of name change.

I have the new packages for 0.14.4 for Januty updated locally with the
version appended as above. I was going to add them to the PPA today but
Henrik has all ready updated the packages.
Feel free to upload them - the naming convention you mentioned is
certainly better than the current.
Cheers,
Henrik
