Hi, I'm also a Gentoo user (kernel 2.6.30-gentoo-r4), so maybe that comment is not of interest for you, but I also solved the reboot issue on a macbook pro 5,1 following comment #21. It seems that the kernel is going to be patched: http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/39169/

The screen will go blank black, and the system will hang indefinitely.
