I have the same problem with my macbook pro 7.1 I can't stop the back-light with F55 or the command line: echo 0 | sudo tee -a /sys/class/leds/smc\:\:kbd_backlight/brightness
but, after 60sec, if i didn't touch the keyboard, the back-light turn off. It will decrease until the keyboard light turns off, and then it will turn back on within two seconds.
