By way of contrast, I’ve always set up every new Mac from a Time-machine
backup. So that’s what I did when I got my Apple Silicon Mac. It was a total
nightmare! I spent the better part of a week trying to get the new Mac up and
running. Most of that time I was in recovery mode, because that was the only
thing I could access. With lots of support from this list, I tried everything,
including reinstalling the OS. Nothing worked and eventually I gave up and
returned it for a new Mac. Even though next time I’ll be going from one
silicon Mac to another, I don’t think I’ll ever restore from a Time Machine
backup again.
Cheers,
Donna
