OK, so this is a turkey question. And I will explain why. So my question to you, are you trying to restore back up from two from your current phone to a new phone? Or are you trying to restore data to a phone debt has been backed up, if the first option, you can restore the data without having to reset your current phone to the new phone. If you are trying to restore data to a current phone, that is active, the first message that you received would be correct you would need to wipe the phone first. Joseph Hudson
