YOu are welcome Donna,
I do resonate with your feelings about apple quality control.
These devices are not personally options for me just now, a secondary
disability experience making them unsafe to use.
Still, I have my cozy stereo near my sofa, where music is, for me a
physical experience holding album covers and cd cases rich with memories,
and hours of both songwriting and music making..and you have your voice
control smiles.
Glad there was a solution in the end.

Thanks, Karen. It all worked out in the end. Well I respect your choice to
continue using your stereo, personally I love voice control. I love that I can
use it to do things and get more stuff done. We all choose the technology that
is most comfortable for us. Well I recognize that HomePods may not be your
choice, they were mine. And when we purchased this HomePod mini, we had no
expectation of the trials that awaited us. I do think apples quality control
has gone downhill a lot, and I think this is just the latest example of that,
unfortunately.

Donna,
I am deeply sorry this situation is so frustrating.
I also respect your personal choices for your personal enjoyment of what the
Homepods provide for you.
Hopefully others will provide a path not requiring you to reconfigure
everything from scratch.
Downloading an older edition of the software seems odd indeed.

First of all, it appears that getting a full-sized one wouldn’t solve the
problem. In the discussions I saw on the internet, both devices were
mentioned. Second, when we’re in the kitchen, we’re usually also doing other
things, so there’s no real need to spend the money for full-sized HomePod.

Ah, an understandable reason.
Thanks for sharing.
Curious why not simply getting a second full sized homepod would not work
though?
Speaking personally if I ever reach that level of need, that they are not sold
in pairs automatically will either insure I get them, or skip the process all
together smiles.
but hey I sill play my music on a stereo.

We had one full-sized HomePod in the kitchen, which served as our primary hub,
and another in the family room. We decided that in the kitchen we could do
with just a mini, and that would allow us to move the kitchen HomePod to the
Family room and create a stereo pair.

,Donna,
I have a question.
what need motivated your adding this new homepod in the first place?
What in your current set up was no longer working to your satisfaction leading
to your needing a new option?
Just curious, especially given this latest chapter.

Hi again all,
So, late last night I finally got my new Mini to download a more current
software version by connecting it to My Mac and using Finder. However, for
reasons I can’t begin to fathom, it downloaded 17.2, instead of 17.4, which is
what the rest of my Home is running. I have my HomePods set to update
automatically, so I figured I’d just set it up, and it would update
automatically overnight. But apparently that was too much to hope for.
Instead, it made a wreck of my home in the Home app. I have devices that have
had multiple names, as I have moved them to different rooms. All those devices
reverted back to an older name. And none of my accessories, other than the
HomePods are responding. Does anyone have an idea what happened or thoughts on
a possible fix? I’d really love to avoid deleting my Home and setting it up
from scratch.
TIA,
Donna
