Esther: No, I don't think you can save your location in the page with
a regular bookmark, but try using "Mark Page for SnapBack" (Command-
Option-K) continuing your browsing, and then going back to the
SnapBack page with Command-Option-P. You can't use this for long term
bookmarking since I think it works with your current cached browsing
history. This is one of the menu options under the "History" menu of
the Safari menu bar. Incidentally, the snapback feature is one of the
reasons that I run Google searches from the Google search bar (Command-
Option-F to navigate to the Google Search bar; type in your query, and
press return). There's a separate "Search results SnapBack" shortcut
(Command-Option-S) that takes you to the results of your search page
if you ran the search from the Google search bar. It isn't available
if you use the method outlined in the icanworkthisthing.com pages to
do a Google search -- which has you type your search terms into the
text field on a Google search page. This makes for a very neat way to
get back to the original search page if you don't want to retrace your
steps with Command-left bracket. (I use the standard shortcut for
previous page -- I know many people use Command-Left arrow, but this
isn't official, and isn't supported in the Safari 4 beta.) It also
gets defined automatically. You can continue to hide your address bar
and still use the shortcut for the Google search bar. It just gets
opened when you use the Command-Option-F shortcut, and closes again as
soon as you press return to start the search. The search terms you
typed also show up in the text box on the Google search page in case
you want to revert to the method outlined at the icanworkthisthing.com
pages. And when I want to copy a URL address to paste into a post, I
just use Command-L (to go to the address bar) and Command-C to copy.
Again, when I do my next search or piece of web navigation the address
bar will close again.

This is detailed in the old archived mailing list pages at:

Cheers,

Esther
