Hello, When you're holding the option key when iTunes launches, it will for sure prompt you to choose a library, create a library, or quit. You probably navigated to the Dock and pressed Control-Option-Space to activate iTunes. In this case, the Dock does allow you to press return alone to launch a selected application. Try that instead, as you'll be less likely to have the Control key held down after launching iTunes. That's the only way this could happen unless you're moving your iTunes library to a place where iTunes doesn't expect it.
