Hi, Mark,

The days of needing to allocate a heap size for an application died 
with MacOS 9.   If you feel an application is running abnormally 
slow, I'd suggest that you create a new user account from the 
Accounts system preference and log into that account and try running 
the application from there.  If it's still slow, it may just be your 
computer.  If it's faster, there's probably a configuration or 
preference problem from your main account.
