Hi,

I did have a correspondence in regard to using the template chooser for
Pages with accessibil...@apple.com. From what they write, I get the
idea that they are not happy that one has to use a physical mouse to
access the template. This is indication enough that no, using a
physical mouse does not meet Apple standards for reasonable access.

 From accessibil...@apple.com:

So, when the template chooser opens, move to the table, then press VO-
Shift-Down Arrow to interact with it and go inside. Once inside, you
can VO left and right to hear the template names. When you find one
you like, you'll need to use a work-around. Press VO-Command-F5 to
move the mouse arrow to the template in the VO cursor, then double-
click the mouse button on the mouse or trackpad to open it. We're
working to improve this in the future, but we're not there yet.

I hope you find this helpful.

In a subsequent email from accessibil...@apple.com:

Unfortunately, there's no keyboard shortcut yet in Pages to choose a
template, thus the need for the work-around. We'll do our best to fix
that as soon as we can.

In regard to TextEdit, and getting the context menu for the thesaurus,
accessibil...@apple.com writes:

To bring up the context menu using the mouse, one needs to
move the mouse pointer to the word, using VO the command is (VO-cmd-f5).
* perform a (control-double click) with the mouse. This action will
cause the word to become selected, and bring up the context menu.
Because VO uses the control modifier, this specific action can not be
performed with VO's (VO-shift-spacebar.

GWK--So, TextEdit also needs a physical mouse intervention with VO, if
one wishes to access the thesaurus through the context menu.
Hopefully, this too, will get attention in a new release--the sooner
the better! I am not well coordinated at clicking the mouse--I
invariably end up moving it from where it was before the click. I have
a work-around, in having my mouse in a "trap" so it cannot physically
move. I can reach for it, and usually make the click when I must
without disturbing its sensitive nature. I dream of the day when a
future big cat from Apple will end the mouse presence on my computer!

-Gary
