You might try resetting the oh crap what is that thing called the CSM or something. Should be able to simply unplug everything, remove the battery for 30 seconds and then reconnect everything. On the newer MB with the internal battery, you just remove all connections and wait 30 seconds and then reconnect and restart the machine.
