Can you be more specific in what you want to do? If it's just stereo audio in and out then you already have that built in. Most modern macs have dual purpose connectors which do both analog and digital optical from the same hole. Beyond that you might need outboard gear to do, say, 8 channel concurrent recording with 192kbps data rates. For most folks the built-in stuff is just fine.
