Yes they are the ear canal style ones. They come with 3 different sizes of rubber grommets to suit different sizes of ear canals.
Although these are not the biggest (about the width of your little finger and length wise a little shorter than the end of your little finger to the first knuckle) they do sound great once you get the correct grommet for your ear. One other thing that should be noted is that because these actually create an airlock type seal in your ear, if you do need to speak you feel your voice through the bones in your head rather than hearing at and that can be weird. so in essence they are not designed as a headset. Also as Chris says I probably would not recommend them for out and about travel unless you have some distance vision.
