Hi all, Well, I did some experimenting, both with Command-Option-Eject, and with just closing the lid. The culprit is the braille display. I have a focus 44 hooked up to my Macbook, and if I don't unplug it, it seems to check in with the Mac about every ten seconds. this keeps the mac from going to sleep, or at least from staying asleep. If, however, you unplug the braille display, both options work as advertised. Best, Donna
