Hi Dan,

What happens if you look in your account under Library/Preferences/ 
ByHost/  and try moving a file with a name like  
com.apple.display.<various numbers>.plist to your Desktop?  (just in  
case the preferences got corrupted).  You may need to reset the  
display and try rebooting after moving the file out.
