I'm planning on getting into the iPhone SDK in the next week or two. I have an idea for an app which will be free (free as in "freedom" with a lower case f) and carry one of the gPL licenses and, of course, provide the source to anyone who wants it. I might charge a dollar or so on AppStore to handle the overhead but will not include any sort of copy protection so people can share it without paying me anything if they like.
If you are interested in this sort of freedom oriented programing, you might check out www.gnu.org and www.progfree.org.
