There is a network setup dialog which I (though I am an Internet  
engineer) found very easy to use.  Generally if you are connecting  
directly to a DSL modem then you just need to enable PPPOE. If you are  
connecting to a cable modem, then the problem is probably that your  
modem is locked on your old computer's ethernet card. Take the power  
off and then on  for modem and see if that solves the problem.
