Hello Robert, To turn off the Preview pane in Mail, navigate to the horizontal splitter which is below the messages and then make sure that the mouse is routed to it by pressing VO-Command-F5. Double click with the mouse button or the actual mouse. Sometimes double clicking with VO-Shift- Space bar works, but not always.
