I just tried it here, it does seem a bit slower. You will notice that when pages load in snow leopard, it will seem a bit slower at first, because voice over now does much more analysis of the pages. You might be able to speed things up too by turning off the announcement of the page summary when the page first loads. Once it's loaded though, it's much faster than 10.5 was I think.
