Hi Annie, I think what you're describing is how to deal with a compilation album that has multiple artists, since iTunes organizes its music by Artist and by Album. There are different ways you can handle this. For example, suppose you have an Album titled "Cinema Classics 2004" that contains classical pieces used in the soundtracks of movies released during 2004. Each track would have a different composer and artist. If you select the tracks in this album and use "Get Info" (Command-I), then navigate to the Info tab, there is a checkbox near the end of the descriptors for "Part of Compilation". If you check this box for all the tracks in that album, they will all be grouped by Album name under a folder named "Compilations". Otherwise, you would have separate entries under the Artist of each track, each with the Album "Cinema Classics 2004" repeated.
Another option you can use is to designate an "Album Artist" on the Info tab. This is a good option to use when you have an album that is mostly the work of a single artist or associated with a particular artist. It could be an album entitled "Tribute to" <some artist> (by other artists playing in that style), or it could be an album like "The Frank Zappa AAAFNRAA Birthday Bundle" where some of the tracks are played by the artist's children. "Album Artist" is a way of telling iTunes that, for the purposes of organizing your music, you would like that artist to be treated as the artist for the album. Again, when you checked the locations of the various tracks, you would find these grouped together and not distributed as though they were all parts of different albums. Is this what you wanted?
